I loved Potter. I loved the prom. So I had a good weekend all round. :)

I had random people come up to me today at school and tell me how attractive my date was. I don’t think I’ll tell him though- he’s sweet because he doesn’t know how cute he is.

My Urban Dead character has been promoted to the leader of Heal Team at Little Fawn Campus. I was very hesitant to take on any type of leadership position, but it was thrust on me when my boss got her own promotion. So far I’m still having fun over there.

Right now I’m still a bit euphoric about both Prom and Potter. I managed not to get spoiled at all for Potter, and the Prom was fun. I even danced. At one point I nearly felt like a princess.

So. The Order of the Phoenix movie.

I loved it. All of it. Of course, I’d read a few reviews beforehand, so I was mostly picking up on what other people noticed. But I still loved it.

I loved:

  • The educational decrees all on one wall (then later falling off).
  • The awesome… set design? I’m not sure how to say it. I liked the Department of Mysteries, all shiny and stuff. Umbridge’s magical announcer-megaphones reminded me of Brave New World, as did the huge Fudge poster in the MoM.
  • The Sirius-Harry relationship. So sad. All the hugging and angst and Harry’s question over whether he’s a bad person. He’s such a woobie.
  • The fact that Rupert, Dan and Emma have improved in leaps and bounds, acting-wise. Their little laughing scene after Harry’s kiss seemed really natural and unscripted.
  • Someone else pointed out Aberforth and his goat, Ron and Hermione dressing in stripes, and Minerva stealing every scene she was in…but I loved those bits too.
  • I was sad like whoa for poor Trelawney. They did it so well, I wanted to hug the poor lady.
  • I loved Harry teaching DADA. So awesome.
  • LUNA. Loved Luna to bits <3
  • The Snarky Snape… “I may vomit.” After the Worst Memory he was all angry and sad and just… awww.

And about a bazillion things more. The only things off the top of my head that I didn’t love was the fact that Snape’s Worst Memory was way way too short. And… did I hear the Half-Blood Prince’s spells being used in Harry’s DADA lessons? Confused much?

I wanna go see it again. :)

At last, the dreaded exams have ended. So now the rain is pouring down, like it has for the last 24 hours, and shows no sign of stopping. At least I’m warm and dry, and I have an electric blanket.

I’m reading an awesome Wilbur Smith book at the moment, called Birds of Prey. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I am. It’s all about pirates and the Anglo-Dutch War… but focused around the lovely Cape Town. It’s awesome how they lived in those days.  Smith went to Rhodes for university, the place I’m looking at. T’would be nice if I went to the same place as the author I’m busy loving, right?

Keep safe and have a good day, everyone.

Thunder and lightning at 5am? Nature’s morning wakeup call. At least I’m warm and safe in bed with my electric blanket and Wheetabix.

Have a good, non thundery day. Unless you’re the type that likes thunder.

Forty days is a South African tradition. Basically, all of the matrics/high school seniors celebrate 40 days until the end of their final exams (and the end of school). Unfortunately, my school does not officially celebrate it. Bad idea, Monii’s school. People decided to celebrate it anyway, and in ways not at all condoned by the school.

We had drunk students, students walking out at break (recess) and going for lunch at the beach, angry students at getting punished for walking out, emails sent to all matric parents (causing mine to freak out), and even some suspended students. Today was pretty crazy because of all that, but I’ll admit it was fun having conversations with the drunk guys. >_>

In other, less adolescent news…

Misty's New Jacket

What do you think of her new winter jacket? :) She seems to like it okay.

I guess this is becoming a regular thing, then. *makes a tag for Various Interesting Things* How is everyone today? I have so much homework I shouldn’t even been looking at blogging, but I just had to share these with you.
On Becoming A Woman, on blinkytreefrog’s livejournal. Just as scary and funny as those old US public service announcements up on YouTube, but in print form! You know, a book. Remember those?

How To Help Someone Use A Computer. Because it’s danged hard to remember times when you didn’t know how to do computery things.

Mc Donalds and a warm puppy is love. I’m getting major inspiration to write… but no, wait! Blasted homework awaits me. At least Pokemon Diamond is on it’s way.

Below the cut are the remains of my post. I had expected Hami to stay around longer. Here are some pics of the dear puppy who lived with us for three days. The little Jack Russell sadly passed away today. I hate life today.

Daily report.

My teacher was scarily happy that I researched the Louw guy (see last post), because compared to the other cretins I actually show an interest in what I learn. I love to learn, but this poor teacher isn’t used to the likes of me.

In English I got called a ’stupid nerd’ for knowing who Francis Drake was. I take it as a huge compliment, and it wasn’t meant in a nasty way. Yay for nerds! (Even though technically I’m a geek but he doesn’t know that…)

In more happier, random news…

I follow a handful of webcomics, but the most recent Ctrl+Alt+Del made me grin.

Also, I have noticed that the older you get, the less of a big deal it is to wear glasses. Maybe it’s just my generation, but more and more people wear them as you hit 12th grade and beyond. I get teased way less for my glasses now. It’s interesting that now even the ‘cool’ kids wear them.

Actually, today wasn’t bad at all…

if you don’t count The Dilemma. It’s quite tough to explain, but I’ll try.

Cut for The Dilemma
